Ian Rubin is senior vice president of Financial Research Corporation’s retail investment markets research and consulting business, as well as its Strategic Advisory Business. These programs provide asset management firms and other participants in the investment industry with data, analysis, and opinion on key industry opportunities and trends. Ian is responsible for overseeing current research programs, bringing new services to market to meet emerging client needs, and developing and managing long-term relationships with clients.
Bringing over a decade of global financial services market research and consulting experience to the FRC team, Ian will focus his efforts on FRC’s core research lines of mutual funds, separately managed accounts, sub-advisory, and advisor distribution. He reports to FRC President Michael Evans.
Since joining the financial services research and consulting industry in 1996, Ian has taken increasing job responsibilities for preeminent global market research firms. Before assuming his current position, Ian was a founding member and vice president of Financial Insights, a subsidiary of technology market research firm IDC, where he led the custom research and consulting practice.
Prior to joining Financial Insights, Ian was the founding director of IDC’s online financial services research group. Before joining IDC in 2000, he spent 4 years as a senior analyst at TowerGroup, where he was responsible for banking delivery channel research.
Ian is the author of 50+ written research reports, telebriefings, and presentations to clients and industry associations. Ian’s research on web-enabled ATMs was nominated for an IDC research quality award.
Ian Rubin is interviewed frequently by both mainstream and industry publications, including The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, The New York Times, CFO Magazine, and American Banker. His research has also been featured in The Economist and The Los Angeles Times. Ian has served on the editorial advisory boards for Bank Technology News and CC News, a leading call center industry magazine. For several years, he served as a judge for Bank Technology News’s annual banking technology review, and was an invited participant in the Executive Roundtable at BAI’s Retail Delivery Services conference.
Ian Rubin earned a bachelor of arts in economics from Brandeis University and a master of business administration degree from Columbia Business School.
