Sub-Advisory Mutual Fund Assets to Reach $2.2 Trillion by 2016

In spite of market volatility, demand for sub-advised mutual funds is expected to improve and assets are forecast to reach $2.2 trillion by 2016. This number represents an 11% CAGR from 2011 through 2016, according to industry data released by FRC at FRC Associates' (FRA's) 12th annual Sub-Advised Funds Forum in New York yesterday. (more...)


Mutual Funds Facing Only Moderate Growth in 2011

Mutual fund asset growth is expected to moderate to a 10% rate in 2011, as compared to the 16% increase experienced in 2010, according to FRC's fifth edition of its Mutual Fund Market Sizing study. Despite a solid uptick of 28% in net flows to a forecasted $325 billion, FRC believes that economic conditions across the largest developed countries will weigh heavily on market conditions through 2012. Target-Date Funds to Face Unexpected Hurdles

New analysis of 401(k) recordkeeper platform data has uncovered that retirement plan sponsors are selecting only specific parts of a target-date fund series, even though asset managers market the entire target-date fund series. This is according to a new report, Trends in Target-Date Portfolios on Recordkeeper Platforms, released today by FRC. This in-depth report was made possible by through a partnership between FRC and BrightScope, the leading provider of retirement plan ratings. Based on the research findings, FRC sees this trend having broader implications for the target-date market. (more...)

International/Global Fixed Income objective posted net inflow of $5.7 billion, followed by the Government objective with $4.5 billion. Digital Marketing Being Used By Asset Managers to Increase Traction with RIAs

Building trust, brand recognition, and reoccurring business with registered investment advisors (RIAs) continues to elude many asset managers. However, with the tremendous growth opportunity that RIAs represent, it is no surprise that some asset managers are finding unique ways to rise to this challenge. DCIO Market Growth Predicted Between 2010 and 2015

FRC projects asset growth in the defined contribution market will achieve a nearly 12% compounded annual growth rate between 2010 and 2015, with assets attaining levels much faster than FRC had originally forecasted in early 2009. Registered alternative products have recorded a strong 14.47% CAGR over the past four and one-half years, and present asset management firms with meaningful product and distribution opportunities, according to FRC's just released report, Opportunities in Registered Alternative Products. In the report, FRC examines the growth and funds that comprise registered alternative products, and explores several key management and competitive issues for asset management firms already participating in registered alternatives markets or those considering launching new alternative products.
