Making Sense of Investor Needs in the Retirement Income Market

As a result of the recent recession, retirement plans of workers have been turned-on-end which has thrown investor behavior into a tail spin. Financial firms are seeking ways to meet the new needs of these workers and retirees. In this study, FRC surveyed approximately 1,500 baby boomers and current retirees to understand their financial and psychological experiences from accumulation to decumulation. FRC provides a breakdown of consumer actions and their attitudes regarding income generation, asset allocation, spending habits, retirement planning and advisory preferences, and feelings about making nest eggs last. This information serves as the basis for FRC’s in-depth analysis of the tactics financial services firms can employ to appeal to the evolving retirement-income needs of retirees today and tomorrow.
